Take the Coaster train to the Del Mar Races in late July-through early September. Lots of shopping close by, walking distance to great casual dining, lots of activities! Legoland is only 10 minutes away to the north in Carlsbad, San Diego 30 minutes to the south, Disneyland is only 75 minutes to the north. Miles of beaches in both directions.
